The tile-laying games include those puzzles in which the pieces must be arranged in such a way that they form certain shapes in two or three dimensions or fill a container or tray.
The pieces can be placed next to each other in many different arrangements, but only one or a few are valid solutions. The best puzzles of this type often allow a seemingly simple arrangement of all but one of the pieces, but this leaves the enthusiastic puzzler in despair because it just won't fit!
