At the beginning, all the discs are on a rod, sorted by size, with the largest disc at the bottom and the smallest at the top. The aim of the game is to move the entire stack of discs from one rod to another. The following rules apply:
- Only one disc may be moved at a time.
- The moving disc must not be placed on a smaller disc.
